Synapse Dance
A BravoFACTUAL funded film, Synapse Dance, documents the Dancing with Parkinson’s program at Canada’s Nation Ballet School. This program offers people with Parkinson’s Disease the opportunity to learn to dance at Canada’s most prestigious dance school. It is also a research study with neuroscientists from York and Ryerson Universities studying the effects of the music and movement on the brains of the dance students.
Synapse Dance explores this exciting initiative through the eyes of one of the participants. The film uses CG animation to illuminate the fMRIs that explore how the brain functions during dance. It highlights the restorative power of dance and the importance of research for people with Parkinson’s Disease.
